Hi Nic,

I stay in Waterfall and there are some great rides. A small 5 km track loop just off Inanda Road is the closest and then you have Giba Gorge and Inanda Dam Valley which is 7km from Waterfall centre ..welcome to paradise my friend ; )

Any one got a Garmin maps for Inada Dam ?

Any one know how safe the 55km trail is in week and weekends ?

Do we need a boat to do this trail or all possible noted on map?

Thanks

Morning Chaps

Thought you would be the people to ask, we heading home tomorrow  and have a day to kill, so thought we would stop over in Howick and on Saturday morning  ride these trails I have heard so much about.

So a couple of questions,

If you only have 1 ride in the area do we want to ride Kaarkloof or Howick trails? (3 hours but we are flexible longer or shorter)

Secondly who should we chat about possibly meeting up to ride with someone or a group  this Saturday am, think things are always better with local knowledge.

Any help would be great.

you can theoretically do both howick and karkloof in one ride....with some local guides howick...on your own...karkloof...the 30k karkloof loop is well marked...but i prefer the howick trails

Hi James

This may not suit your timing but we've got a ride planned for Sunday morning.

Let me know if you're keen to join.

A few of us (Johannesburg people) will be heading down to the Midlands this coming weekend. We are hoping to ride both Howick and Karkloof. If we ride Howick on Sunday where do we sign in? Last time I was there we rode in the week and signed in at the bike shop - is it open on Sunday?

Thanks - that's where we parked last time (I think). BTW - as we will be different levels etc. is it safe for some of the party to ride in smaller groups of 2 or 3?

I haven't heard of any issues in the area...

Cedara has had issues. Seems to be better now.

Inanda has also had problems. Personally I don't like it there. Too dirty.

Karkloof and Howick, no issues. As with Grace/ Hilton and Cascades.

Cool; thanks, I am sure we will have a great time and will post a pic or two when back!

Wont go wrong at Howick/ Karkloof. May need a costume and tube this weekend though. Really hope it clears.

We had it very lucky with the weather - although it rained over the weekend almost all our riding was dry and the trails drained really nicely. We had an awesome ride (~30km) on the Howick trails followed by lunch at Gunters before heading home to Jhb.
