Anyone know what cleats the spin bikes at Virgin Active use? Looks like the Shimano MTB Cleats?

I have shimano cleats on my shoes...fits, I dont know if its a generic type pedal, but if i have to guess, I would say SPD

It's worth taking a small hex key to tighten the tension on the pedals (yes Shimano cleats are perfect) to limit full sprint disasters with a foot coming out. The pedals tend to be set up quite loose and (too) easy to unclip.

Also not worth using high end shoes with carbon soles as these will get trashed by the pedals. Use a cheap and cheerful pair for spinning.

I know someone who doesn't even ride bikes who bought a pair of S-Works MTB shoes to use for spinning, "because they're top quality and look good". No further comment.

Me, I just use my normal (already scuffed ;)) MTB shoes when I do go.

I have the same issue. Ride MTB with Eggbeaters so I have to change to SPD every time I spin. Not fun sitting next next to your spinning bike with a multi tool changing your Eggbeaters. I also need another pair of shoes :(

Just don't strip your shoe threads with all the changing or you will end up buying new shoes anyway. I would go with a 2nd pair if you spin a lot. Other option is to change the pedals at the gym. Should see the guys faces when you unclip at the end of a class and they see Look Keos on the bike. :)

I unscrew my look pedals from my road and I take them and my road shoes with as well as the spanner! unscrew the pedals on the spin bike and put my normal pedals on and bobs your uncle, plus you have piece of mind that some of your normal riding position is maintained in terms feet position etc.

why dont you get a cheap set from Mr Price. there a a few bikes at VA that have threads striped because people don't tighten the pedals after they remove them.

The people in the spinning class look at me funny when I rock up with my old mtb shoes used for the epic. Needless to say, they used to be black, but changed into a beautiful brown shade after the epic.

mmmm, anyone got an old set lying around they want to sell? Don't feel like forking out for new cleats just for spinning?

I got, 4 days riding and 550kms on their clock but PE is a long way away for a 50 buck transaction + post. Go buy locally.
