Hi,

Where can I find some "All mountain" riding in Gauteng? Or should I rather just ride down the DH tracks? Surely there is a track or something in the Magaliesberg?

Where do you ussually take your 6" travel bikes?

Cheers!

No 6" bikes in Gauteng?

there most definately are. When I had a 6" bike (was adjustable between 6" - 7"), I rode it mostly at the DHL line, Scout Hall dirt jumps, hurlingham, occasionally Helderkruin (found it more fun than my DH rig), and the bike park cos it's only 2km from my office.

But yeah, DHL is the most fun guys that ride DHL are using dirt jump/slope-style bikes, but a decent AM rig works well there too.

DHL is a light freeride line with jumps. It's part of the spruit, and gets it's name because it's behind the DHL building just off Peter Place.

It's also been said that DHL stands for "Da Huge Line", cos some of the jumps are pretty big (there's a 6m gap jump). It's great fun, and in terms of your bike... I've seen guys hit it on XC bikes (they were skilled though), DJ bikes, 4X bikes (that's my weapon of choice for this line), Slopestyle bikes, AM bikes, FR bikes, DH bikes... and even a trials motobike.

I've heard there is a track coming down from Linkfield Ridge to Gillooly's Farm side. Some pics here

There is a footpath - its a serias downhill!

It's played host to the odd provincial and national DH race.
