Hi guys I've been noticing the amout of GPS tracks being loaded, and not knowing too much about the different operating software, I wanted to know if my Garmin Quest(used for offroad 4x4 expeditions) would work for MTBing, it runs with MapQuest and has tracks for Africa installed....

It will work as a normal GPS, as the file formats are the same, but it will not be of much use as a bike computer

You should be fine with it

the big diffirences are: no heartrate. no cadence.

other than that, the size of the quest is a bit bulky.

may also not be too happy if your bike goes tumbling.

it should work as it would use a tcx file to save the data. Only thing is, can you start, stop map routes?

On my garmin 800, it only starts recording the route from the time I start the ride until I stop the clock i.e. Not while I am driving to and from the venue.

well id just leave it off.... My major concern was being able to veiw the tracks, similar to how I couldn't seem to upload Trax4Africa onto a Nuvi for my Sister
