MTB East Rand Riding

This is my first post here...couldnt find anywhere else to post an introductory mail, like some forums require.

I bought a GT MTB about a month ago. Does anyone know of any safe rides out in the far East Rand? I would also like some advice from the boffins on the MTB races. What races are good to aim for in the beginners side, like myself? I am sure that there are certain races which are more geared for the newer riders, or are not so technical as to frighten the living daylights out of a newbie!

Any guidance would be appreciated.

hang on, you're in springs? Contact springs wheelers. They have more mtbers than road riders. My old man is the chairman of the club, pm me if ya want his details.

Thanks for the welcome. I are in Springs...kidding. ;) Grew up in KZN, so no accent. I do, however, really enjoy living the East Rand. Good people.
