Just watched 'Berto take a time bonus at the intermediate sprint.

HIs former Astana teammate, Tiralongo, helped him gap the break (I think Berto gifted him with a TdF 2011 stage win) and then the rest is history.

Yes indeed he did (was it not a Giro stage though/) - but anyway, Tiralongo has a long memory.

Dont like rodregues-however you spell it! I never watched the all the stages...but never saw roddi do anthing but follow and take advantage...eeergh! Even Froome took control more than roddi...

They showed slo mo footage of a Saxo bidon accepted and going into Tiralongo's bidon cage....

Hmmm.... Intriguing stuff.

Purito on the day:

"I had got millions of texts and emails telling me that this was sorted and there was only five days to go to Madrid. But I'd been saying this wasn't over until we got there.

"It had been very fast from the moment the race started, and was supposed to be a calm day. And I was looking at the Saxo Banks and thinking ‘wow, they're riding well today."

I'm enjoying Movistar's rising on the World Tour circuit.

Not a Valverde fan though.

:-/

I like Valverde's attitude, he is very similar to 'Berto in that he seldom gives up, a real fighter as well, and he is in super shape, the way he muscled his way up that hill was quite spectacular.

Imo they all took a pint of blood on the rest day, but Rodriguez unfortunately got a bad bag. It has happened before, for example like Basso in the 2004 Giro. Katusha's medical staff stuffed up and cost JR the race.

But credit to Saxo, they set it up perfectly, and Conto executed their plan well.

d

(if my theory is correct, JR should be completely well by stage 20, which is the last mountain stage, and would be attacking like crazy, and probably win the stage, with Conto on the defensive)

Sorry if Im not overwelmed by awe, I cant help but be sceptical of two ex?drug cheats riding away from a world class field after a rest day, in the third week of a grand tour.

Just watched the replay. Keenan says: "A rest day does strange things to one's body"… :whistling:

@ X-Man

Imagine 'Berto with the Rainbow Stripes...

Well, he's aiming for it and if he continues to be in this fantastic form and then STRIPES it will be!!

PISTOLERO.... :whistling:

I think it was Tiralongo who stood up for Berto all allong.. they rode on astana together and are good friends.. Rods was caught with his "rods" around his ancle today.. He should have known Alberto was capable of this.. In his younger days he won several "hilly" stages by attempting solo breaks..

The boy has guts, spirit and BALLS...thats why I love him!!

Hitting the refresh tab this morning after not having time/bothering watching last night was like... huh.. NOW WAYS!!

Alberto my BOY!!!
