you're forgetting the random adjustment they do for each rider. there is no "1" formula that they use across the board. its totally random

Random adjustments are just that. a mate was on the front of a tandem yet had a finish time some 30 seconds behind his partner...try working that one out!

I think that this random adjustment is a load of BS. It makes their clear cut calc's a bit wishy washy and makes for clouded waters.

If I do a 2:30 for a race and the winner did a 2:02 - leave it at that - don't change the winners time because I did better or worse than what was predicted.

So the winners' time stays the same, my time stays the same, and a beta (read as difficulty level) remains the same = level playing field and results.

get with the program PPA - although I think that this is what they are trying to finish at (i hope).... just taking a long time to get it set in place

It is my understanding that they only adjust the winners time to match that as if a pro was riding. So only for the shorter races unless it was a badly attended event.

Didn't PPA introduce the Beta system because people were complaining that hilly rides would get the same index as flat rides, and windy the same as calm.

Not saying they are doing a good/bad job.

But maybe it's harder than we think.

Okay, I just checked my Seeding and i have moved up to B, My die Burger 30km ride was indexed with a 0.00.

The adjusted winners time was 1:07:06, which was my time. I came 3rd.

So I guess I'll be catching you from E on the long route races...... that is what grates my tits! I understand that you won the 30Km but surely the Beta value should be higher because the course was shorter? and the adjusted winners time should be less rather than more?

IF YOU ALL feel so frustrated and upset about PPA, make an appointment and go see them at there office.

I HAVE tried before, emails & phone calls & appointments & AGM Meeting. NO SUCCESS!

Still want to compete and cycle.

Yeah, great effort from you, FRAIL...

I remember that.

No, i didn't win, came 3rd, winner was 4 mins ahead of me.

So their time was better than the adjusted winners time.

Doesn't make much sense, but i'm not going to complain :D

I thought there were some sort of "penalty" added to results from the shorter distance races. I mean you cant give the guy winning the 50km race the same type of index than the guy winning the 100km....
