Black was hard, but all the climbing was well with it. the single track and downhill's are so well worth it.

A lot of wear to the trails after Enduro and Epic but to be honest I love that kind of riding so I had a blast, Lots of deep ruts, choppy breaking bumps, and soft powder dust that hides everything until you hit it. Was coughing up sand castles all night...

Great fun... a trail-bike delight

Rode black Saturday, glad epic & enduro went through, trails are proper mtb stuff and not manicured and predictable ONLY downside was been followed by a BIG baboon by Angels tears section, has anyone been attacked by them before at Bains trails ?

good question. I had a group of them give me *** last weekend. Really scared of them actually.

Yeah basically walked the whole angels tears as I wanted to be ready to lift bike on back wheel for protection, couldn't think of anything else, it was walking about 10 meters behind me for about +- 5mins & was big, and then just went away, pity would have liked to have ridden it, but does make me a bit bang for next time

they've been removed(fire) from tokai, and now at bains... they're really angry :whistling:

Seen plenty of them, never felt threatened. And I mostly ride solo - plus I'm not the most intimidating of figures out there...

Closest call I had with them was coming down Bains pass (road) and they were sitting all across the road just as I exited a turn.  Big ones, small ones, babies, calm ones and... panicky ones!

Maybe they were just doing backpack inspections for matches in fear of their homes being burnt down as well.

Must confess I haven't been deep into black recently (timing) and tended on the last couple of rides to come back down after Point Break (or ride white). So no idea what's going on further and how it's looking. I actually still haven't even ridden that bridge I was so excited to see! Shock and horror...

In Canada and Russia Bears chase you.  Part of the fun man!

Did the white route today.  Super tough really.  Some of the trails are really rocky and loose. True Grit one of them.  Came upon 2 troops of Baboons on the slopes of the hill at the end of True Grid.  They were angry at each other and the males were challenging each other.  Some of the water bridges (I think Dirty Dancing) were also broken.

My wife was 5th overall in the 15km and was the second women.  My son was 5th overall in the 30km.

I told my wife it's time to upgrade her distance.

I, sadly watched the other kids make a mess of their new tackies at the dam.
