New mtb/wildlife lodge in limpopo

Hi guys, i want your opinion on something please. My uncle wants to turn his farm in Limpopo into a "getaway" for the outdoor lovers. His idea is to have a lot of jeep tracks on the farm(+_2200 hectares) going through awesome terrain and great scenery, through some of the mountains/valleys and rivers which they have. There would be sections to do some nice technical singletrack and downhill as well. Basically you can do anything from 20km up to 50km without doing one route twice. There is overnight facilities in either the selfcatering cottages or camipng for those who would prefer to tough it out. In the winter there is also the opportunity to hunt impala, kudu, waterbuck, bushbuck, wildboar, bushpig, warthog ect. Fishing on the river or in the dam is also really great with big kurper and catfish amongst other. Its a place you can take the family and enjoy a weekend away from the city rush. Its not a commercial place like "forever resorts" for example, its privately owned/run.... feedback and tips would be greatly appreciated guys, suggestions or any alternatives you would like to add. Its 40km from Potgietersrus(2:30 hrs from pretoria) thanks

Have sent you a PM

If you dig around on the hub a bit you will find a similar initiative near Zeerust. I went there and had a FANTASTIC time, so did many other hubbers. Half the appeal is that its not commercial, you are really out on your own. (The fact that they have so much game was a big plus)

Think about getting an experienced trail builder in?

Also maybe its just me, but I prefer to see live animals ... my sense is mtb'ers tend to be nature lovers, not really into hunting. There might be a bit of conflict there.

Ok, I've thought of something similar when out on those long rides alone.

Your marketing should be spot on! Don't market it as a game farm. TIA, there are plenty of them around. Don't market it as a MTB trail, there are plenty of them as well and people won't drive 3 hours just for a 50km ride.

You need to promote an experience. You need to have enough trail to create a 3 day long trail similar to a stage race. Create a brand that you associate with the experience. A tough three day ride that you can share with your good mates, kick back in the bushveld at night and have some sense of accomplishment when you've done it.

Offer people the whole package. It's not just a game farm, it's not just a trail, it's an experience!

Or something to that effect... if you get my drift...

That's true, the one part of the farm is used for hunting, but the biggest part is actually there for gamedrives and hikes ect, thanks for the heads up kosmonooit!! Ill let my uncle know about all the replies and feedback, I also think that a "stage" type thing would work, maybe do a ride to point A on the farm and camp/stay one night and then move on to next one on day 2 or whatever the case is!! The singletrack is a concern at the moment yes, he really needs to do it well, the terrain and scenery is there to use so ja!! Thanks guys
