Not going to rebut actually. The crux of my opinion is that if you don't like the new trends don't partake and, by the same token, don't make a holy crusade out of your abstinence.

dammit! :P

but i totally agree with you wrt not buying into the marketeering. Problem is, not everyone's as clued up, so the thing builds momentum. sum total is, we are at their mercy, same way it would seem we destined to buy into SRAMs 10-spd panacea as we are into this 142mm spacing rahrah..

Pro's and fast guys never pays or buy bicycles. Some bycle company sees potential and sponsors everything. So why must the general public pay for that pro guy or gal by buying these expensive bicycles and almost everything to do with this game, just doesnt seems fair. All this tests in windtunnels etc are being paid by us.

We need to do something about this exploitation.

If you brave enough where do we start?

They know how to play the testosterone violin and exploit the veign attitudes of some.

Then stick to a Serfas or a Momsen.

**** - I forgot - Momsen is giving free bikes away to Brandon...

Dunlop from Game is also a good option. I'm sure none of the pro's are racing

those.

Maybe those Pro's started on Dunlop's

But I want to make a holy crusade of it.

You can only go to heaven on a steel framed bike, with a coil shock and one gear.

Once you have seen through the illusion of the weight weenies, you can happily buy a leather brooks saddle with dual suspension and dampner coils. It only weighs in at just short of a 1KG.

HOWEVER

if you want the latest and greatest stuff(without having to pay for it), then you better get training and winning races. No team offer = no sponsors toys. A different heaven and a different reality.

Heretic! Rigid is the stairway to heaven!

I am from a progressive sect, which believes some comfort and trail side repairs are allowed (although suspension should be for saddles). We are not all luddites, brother.

These are what bicycle prices should be measure against:

Sport Bike

and

Road Bike

If you paid more than the sport bike price for your bicycle, you were done in big time.

You know what, its ok.

I am happy for it. I love riding and I love my equipment.

I will be done in again next year with a smile on my face.

My car parks outside and my bikes in the garage.

No regrets here.. I am a happy chop.

I just wanted to say my say. phew now I feel much better.

happy miles all. :D

So we all know the big names in the cycling world. But what brands offer good quality bikes for cheaper (due to less marketing :P )? Isn't Silverback one of those? Any others?
