Personally if I wanted to splurge on clothing I'd go with the earlier recommendation to visit the Rapha site.

As I understand it Assos make the finest ass coverings this side of Zurich. Whenever I see their logo however, it is usually being sported by an out-of-shape weekend warrior. And illustrious list of sponsored pro's aside, their marketing strategy seems to verify that this is indeed the target market - doshed up weekend warriors with much more cash than cycling ability.

Oh yes, that goes without saying. Truthfully it's not the price tag that gets me, it's the marketing and brand positioning. All you have to do is compare the Rapha site and the Assos site. The Assos website copy reads like a Cosmo advertorial.

 

One look at the Rapha site and you know the guys who make it are riding their bikes day in and day out.
