Again, I think its very much a personal thing.

However if you have been riding say a "split" saddle for a few years and change to a "solid" one or vice versa it may take quite a long time to get used to the new design.

If you are looking to upgrade, I think its better to rather stick to the design type you are used to and just upgrade to another model of the same design.

75kg is still on the light side for the average SA cyclist, so really any good branded saddle will probably be fine, Selle Italia and Fizik are specialist saddle manufacturers and certainly would have a saddle to suit you, perhaps you can research the product first on the manufacturers website and determine the model types you feel would suit you before you go shopping.

um....quite big Hug lol for road racing.... the type riding....not the bum :P lol !!!

The reson why i ask is purely for comfort. The lighter narrower less padded saddles will feel like an uncomfortable wedgie to a big butted individual, where as the wider more padded ones are obviously more comfy. Cyclelab lets you test ride different saddles so maybe you should pop down there first before you fork out R1k or more for a sore backside. Like all things in life, saddles are really just personal preference and what is good for one may be bad for another.

The award winning Selle San Marco Magma Mg is one you could consider.

I second that Spidy, I traded my Specialized Toupe for one of those bad boys and now me and my butt are friends again.

Now I just need to ditch the rubbish shammys (Velotex) and long rides will be bliss again...
