Eldron Posted November 4, 2011 Share There is enough evidence that targeted IDT sessions will have the same effect as just riding around, LSD sessions on an actual bicycle. +1 People tend to not understand or appreciate the benefits of targetted interval training. IDTs are perfect for this because there are no interruptions (robots, cars, wind, hills etc). On the IDT you can do the perfect interval. The track is also good as well as places like Kyalami (you just need to co-ordinate your intervals with the hills). 1 hour of good intervals beats a 90-120minute aimless ride any day of the week. Of course a combination of both is best (>2hour real road rides combined with targetted IDT sessions).
capeofstorms Posted November 4, 2011 Share hi, We talking endurance rides here, not intervals. IMO IDT is simply the bset for intervals. Have you spent more than 2 hours on an IDT? Your sit bones must surely be made of steel! Endurance rides is just that ENDURANCE

davetapson Posted November 4, 2011 Share Alberto Salazar won comrades in 1994 by training in his basement in Canada on a treadmill. For a while spinning was my main form of cycling training, and it worked well enough considering - maybe not as well as cycling, but way better than the other option, which was not cycling. As for boredom - go find a club that has nice talent and sit in the back. Helps time pass... Let's Ride
