Is this tubeless?

For sure it would be. Going low pressure with tubed tyres will just end in tears.

From personal experience, when I moved from tubed to tubeless my average speed increased instantly. Of course it was also combined with a change in tyre choice from 2.1 to 2.25. Running low pressure on wide tubeless tyres has to be experienced to be really appreciated. It made such a difference to my riding that I now have a sense of what it must be like to ride on EPO for the first time  .

Not to mention that flats are virtually a thing of the past.

The only fear now is a large sidewall tear. But I always carry a spare tube and old piece of cut-out sidewall for that eventuality.

I find its a balance between traction which less will give you and greater puncture resistance which more will give you.

Relative. Higher pressure will result in "stiffer" casing which in turn could make it easier for the thorn, glass or whatever to penetrate and puncture the tire. Chances are if it's run at lower pressure to tire will deform or "give" quite a bit before giving way.

Hey Guys I've been riding with Conti Gatorskins for quite a while now... Brilliant tires and never gets punctured.

I have always run them at 8.5 bar (Conti MAX recommended), but this morning I heard a few guys saying that you can pump them alot harder...

What do you guys ride them at? and what would you say is the best "bar" to go fastest but also minimize a puncture?

Thanx in advance

always go by the manufactures max ! going from 8.5 bar to 9 or 9.5 bar you will not feel any faster . ( its not like going from 2bar , you already damb hard )

Its mainly for pinch flats i'm concerned about. Striking a rock at low pressure will increase the chance. I also use slime tubes and tire liners, overkill perhaps but in my 5/6 years MTB i have only had 1 puncture and that was when i replaced my tire without fitting the liner.
