Cool win yesterday, Proteas.

AB showing his talent and composure again.

Is Gary steadying the mindset of the players when under pressure.

Seems good.

that's always been our problem: fragile minds. Absolutely nothing wrong with our players physical abilities and skills. I like AB's/current teams Sri Lankan-like approach: bat them out of the game, and even if the wickets are falling, dont delay the onslaught. Keep trucking. NZ were roadkill in that last match. Him and faf just monstered over them.

Next few matches will be interesting. But again, all this is another positive step to that world cup. Nothing else matters. Nothing.

the stats however, are interesting:

run rate curves:

The above, IMO, suggests the batting teams were fairly well balanced, so where did NZ lose it?

edit: got the stats assigned incorrectly to the teams, but fixed above. Some very tight bowling by NZ. Guess my initial guess that ZA batted them out of the game was more in the right direction than using the stats to suggest NZ's bowling was erratic. Thanks for that Zac and 'Dale.

Looks like NZ lost that game for themselves. Awesome batting display by AB and Faf, but the stats suggests it was handed to them on a platter, and boy, did they go on a feeding frenzy.

Capricorn, I think you are misreading those stats. The SA innings one is NZ bowling stats, if you know what I mean. It refers to the team batting. AT one stage, late in the match, the commentators mentioned that this could end up being a world record by NZ for no extras conceded, whereafter they bowled a few wides.

NZ never spiked the run rate chart in the final five overs.

Lost regular wickets with Steyn's thunder balls.

I think so too, usually innings refers to the batting side.

But maybe it's different this time?

Jislaaik!

Really like Gary Kirsten's innovative style to the batting order.

Pinch hitter opens.

Pinch hitter at 3

NZ lowering their chin more and more.

We pick only 4 specialist batsmen, and still belt them. Easy game this. Cant see them getting too many deliveries in their half during the test series....

about 200/7

Must be the chill in the air. :-)

Kallis scored 0, 0, 200plus and 0 in his last 4 test innings.

looks like the team fell asleep at the wheel. Even AB seemed lost at sea. Was horrible to watch. but Biff scored a decent 53.
