Read this last night after seeing a reference on Twitter...Eye opening stuff.

LA Lovers will view it with Rose Tinted Glasses, but will think twice before using Livestrong as their defense of the man.

'The Haters' will smile quietly with a few "we told you so's..."

So livestrong is selling 'hope'

A couple years ago, my mother took early retirement, and decided she wanted to donate some of her time to the SPCA.

Now my mother, has got a good level head for business, and was successful in selling her business.

Long story short, she quit helping. Purely because of the theft, the miss appropriation and management of funds / donations (donations of dog food, blankets etc).

Management themselves, from what I understand, were lazy, apathetic to the cause, and kinda stuck in away of not promoting / helping the cause. Its a shame too, for the real looser is the animals.

My family and I don't give money to charities. Take the Nelson Mandela Fund, that too has had its fair share of controversy of funds mis management.

I think, if people really knew how funds were spent by 'non profit' organisations , we would be seeing a different world.

The main issue is that LA allegedly used government funding to finance the US Postal's teams doping practices. That is the only reason that he will go to jail and the other guys not. It is fraud and a criminal offence. If he used his own money then nothing would have happened.

A related bit from velonews.com

ESCH-SUR-ALZETTE, Luxembourg (VN) — Lance Armstrong will not have a public role in the newly merged RadioShack-Nissan-Trek team.

That’s according to team manager Johan Bruyneel, who said the seven-time Tour de France winner will not play any formal role in the management of the team.

“Lance has a personal relationship with a lot of us here and he’s a big fan of the Schleck brothers, but he’s not actively involved in the team,” Bruyneel said Friday.

Team owner Flavio Becca’s Leopard SA retains ownership of the newly merged RadioShack-Nissan-Trek team that saw the fusion of RadioShack and Leopard-Trek at the end of the 2011 season.

The team is listed as registered in Luxembourg on the UCI’s web site (with Bruyneel’s name curiously missing from a list of management).

One of the team’s co-sponsors is LiveStrong, a partner of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the subject of a critical piece in this month’s Outside Magazine penned by Bill Gifford.

Flavio was arrested a few weeks back for fraud and money laundering.

Did you read the comments unerneath the article. The article is written without proof and is very biased. The writer even goes on to say what he had in mind before reviewing the facts or even bothering to ask the other party. The NGO was started way before his world wide fame and i think you wuold find it hard to argue he has not used his own story for the greater good.

Accusations are just that and it is not up to him to supply the burdon of innocence. Any person would feel angry about constantly being written about in a negative way where by our achievements are forever in question. Cyclists dont even get away with doping once in a major race so it would seem out of this world that he cheating his way to 7 victorys in the TDF and how many others.

He was/is an exceptional athlete who is just special and little better than his peers at the time. Where is the witch hunt for Bolt, Sir Donald Bradman, Tiger Woods, Kelly Slater, Lionel Messi, Vettel and numerous others who have completely dominated their respective sports.

I also beleive over his career he has easily amassed that kind of cash, he was getting multi million contract over a decade ago. Hell the book sales could have covered s small plane......

What more does this guy have to do to prove his innocence?

He needs to sit down with the Federal investigators and come clean about the accusations against him.He needs to stop hiding behind his very high paid lawyers and start answering the questions.

As one of the comments point out, what does this article do for the people on the fence, like me.

I will have to be honest and say the article doesnt do much to either add anything new or take away anything. I still cant make up my mind !
