SeaBee Posted January 16, 2012 Share duringd - if I look on the map, it almost looks as if the mtb route (long) goes down the tar road below the Taalmonument. Is that the case or is the road venturing into the trees (bos) below the Taalmonument? If going into the bos singletracks - how tech is it? (For a roadie contemplating this instead of the road race...)
white tiger Posted January 17, 2012 Share Hi I don't know if the route is the same as last year, but if it is there is a small section of single track at the end, just below the Taalmonument. Not very tecnical and about 2km at the most. Should not be a problem.Nice race, with nice jeep tracks. Come join us, it's basically in my backyard!! SeaBee Posted January 17, 2012 Share Mine too... So veeery tempted to rather do this than the road trip. Know the rest of the route, but clueless as to what's going to happen once exiting below the amphitheatre...

duringd Posted January 24, 2012 Share Just a little note - there is a BIG surprise (hopefully if all goes to plan) waiting for you guys. Keep some legs for the last couple of km's. And yes, some singles in the forest below the monument........
Zac.A Posted January 24, 2012 Share well it's not much of a surprise now is it?

Zac.A Posted January 24, 2012 Share The surprise is not the singles......I know, but I think the next phrase in your sentence gives it away.Anyhow, I won't point it out to anyone who may have missed it.

SeaBee Posted January 25, 2012 Share Ooookay, in on this - very much as a FUNride! (First proper mtb event...) If there's anybody behind me when we hit the ST and it happens to be a real mtb'er - I apologise in advance... I'll be the idiot going verrry slowly! No road rage... we leave that to the tar sniffers on the day! *urgh* - I can think of one surprise you can throw at us...

Musashi Posted January 25, 2012 Share An ice cold beer at the finish line? Now THAT would be a surprise! And depending on how many beers, I may need some legs for that.
duringd Posted January 25, 2012 Share OK, you guys asked for some changes and some fun, so..... The distance has been changed to around 53km's! And the total ascent has changed slightly to around 1300m. Nothing serious, just a bit different. DO NOT expect the normal!
