How is the logistics for this race? Seeing it starts in PMB and ends in Durban? Does that not mean you have to be up really early?

If I remember correctly, the transport left Durban beachfront at around 4am last year.

Logistically I find the 'Shova an issue, I dont get up at 3am unless there's a da*n good reason, and a bike race isnt one of them, so you usually have to stay in Pietermaritzburg and get someone to drive to Durban to collect you and bring you back.

My wife's day is governed by her diary so if she has clients or is preparing doc's and cant come along, then I have to beg a buddy to drive around like a cabby - not my cup of tea, and in the past we had to collect numbers in Durban only, so that made it worse and I stopped doing it - which is a pity as I quite enjoyed it.

One year they sent the numbers up to JHB and we collected them at Monte Casino which was great, but they never made the effort again and to be honest, for Gauteng riders, its not a very logistically friendly race.

Which is why starting in a late batch not always a bad thing...I think my race last year was at 730ish am. I left home just after 5am. So wasn't too bad :)

I guess I'll give it a miss then as we would come from Cape Town...we are trying to do a few races in different provinces, but this one is just terrible logistically...

My number was courier to me at an extra cost of R65 and the goodie bag was after the finish line which was an extra bonus.

where do our bikes go ?

You drop them off at the stadium the day before and they box them and truck them to PMB.

The buses left from the Elangeni hotel last year at a rather early hour. It took about 90min to get to PMB.
