Sadly I do not trust our SAPS, and due to this I would not be surprised if a few members are behind the syndicate. Get a few cronies to steal a bike, they hand it in to an unknown member of the public, said member phones specific SAPS member who then arranges for meeting between bike owner and the public, money changes hands and gets split between the thieves.

 

I hear this but FFS  10 plus involved and stab a guy for R600  - WTF !!!!!

People have been stabbed and shot for less... We live in a brutal country where the only things that exceeds the love for another person's belongings are the lengths and violence that will be used to get said belongings.

Is London Road / Midrand still an issue? I used to live around there and did that route almost daily - great road and was blissfully unaware that people had been targeted. I was more concerned with the Taxi's driving in the wrong lane while heading down Garden Road..

The area remains a high risk zone for cyclists and horse riders. However, recently the local police have been more visible in the surrounding area.

 

Best to remain with a large group and avoid single track with long grass and foliage.
