Ironically, it seems the riders were avoiding an accident scene on that narrow descent.

A real confluence of events, it seems:

Rider down near blind corner at the foot of narrow pass

Following group averts and overtakes.

Motor biker meets group on blind corner.

Crash.

Hope the injured recovers well.

Guys, lets not turn this thread, into a Cape Cobra complaints thread .....someone took a bad tumble from the sounds of it. Rather start another thread .. actually I think I will do that for you.

Hi everyone!

My dad is Gerhard, the guy who stopped to help Meezo. He is doing ok, just serious whiplash, strained anckle and soft tissue damage around torso. I just wanted to know if anyone has news about the other cyclist that crashed with the motorbike?

Also there is so many conflicting stories about what happened. Could someone maybe just give me a run down? My poor dad says all he remembers is standing one moment, seeing the motorbike and then blacked out.

I really want to ask all of you to please take care, it could have been a life changing incident for our family!

If anyone knows the name or family of the seriously injured cyclist, please send our deepest sympathy and regards to them. We are really thinking about them.

Regards

Not to offend anybody, but another lesson to learn when you help somebody is to firstly always make sure you are safe, scan the surroundings and then only help someone else.

My thoughts are with all that had accidents yesterday and may the recovery be quick!

Andy point taken, Gerard was standing by me as I was laying in the gutter. it was an accident so we did not expect the motorbike to hit us.

thanks, how you feeling after your crash. heard u raced yesterday.

+1. To stop to help someone and then put your own life in jeopardy kinda defeats the whole point..... 2 riders down is worse off than 1 rider in my opinion.

Thanks Andydude! My father had already done that, there was no immeidate risk in the surroundings when he stopped to help Meezo, they were on the other side of the road! The motorbike accident happended quite a while after they were already helping Meezo. There was nothing that Meezo and the rest could do to avoid what happened to them, purely an accident. My dad was also cycling and could have been knocked off even if he did not stop. Unfortunately for him wrong time, wrong place, could have been anyone of us that got hurt.

Cool man. Wasn't meant directly at you or your pop, was just to remind everyone in general. Well done to your dad for helping and speedy recovery for him!

Feeling ok. Just a bit stiff. And you won't believe it, I got caught in the down pour this morning at 7 and a few hunder meters from home I slipped over the white markings on the corner of a speed bump and did a bit of a superman

"Slippery when wet!" :)

How are you feeling today?

May The Almighty make he's surgery a success so he can spend time with he's wife and kids
