Three well-known cyclists were attacked yesterday in the Mooiplaas area of Centurion. One of them was seriously injured and is currently undergoing surgery for a badly broken arm etc.. Bikes and phones were taken by the assailants.

Bikes taken are:

Ellsworth full suspension 29'er, Sram x.o. groupset. Easily recognizable.

Stevens full suspension, black

Steven hard tail, blue and grey.

Ok. But has this foreign bicycle attrition thing been proved yet?

Not sure, it is just a theory. Not many guys have been prosecuted if they have been caught.

Too many Mozambicans possibly? The streets aren't paved in gold anymore

The way I see it, most of the scumbags being caught for violent crimes these days, are Mozambicans. I know it is a generalisation, but that it is the impression I got. (and then most of them are youngsters. JuJu's "hired help" perhaps?)

Is this Mooiplaas close to Erasmia? I have been chased around there before. Too close to Attridgeville. Erasmia police was not interested in my story.

Sad to hear. Hope for speedy recovery. I do not go out on the bike anymore.

I received this e-mail this morning.

"Hi everyone

Just thought I would let you know that P..... N.., his sons D.... and F.... were bike jacked yesterday in Raslouw near the chicken farm. I am not sure exactly where that is, but for those of you who might sometimes cycle in that area, please be alert. 3 bikes and cellphones taken. P..... is going in for surgery at 8 this morning to repair his arm that was broken (a rock was thrown at him) and to assess the damage. He might have to then have a second operation on Friday. Please keep him in your prayers."
