Good to meet you too, mate.

You looked in fine form today up Smits, etc. I wasn't paying attention at two important points and ended up time-trialling from the top of Boyes to past Fishhoek on my own and then being dropped at Soetwater and cycling the last 20-odd km alone. But had my fastest time up oukaaps by 3min and finished strong-ish-ly so maybe the World Champs in 2 weeks will be good. :) I was chuffed with a 2.40 given the levels of my stupidity!

I wondered where you ended up, as I looked for you in the bunch. I was feeling nice and strong going up Smits. Also had to work hard to get back to the sharp end of the bunch after relaxing a bit once over Smits, and getting swamped. Same happened up Slangkop, luckily the bunch slowed down once through Kommetjie and I again could slot back in the front. Looking at the results, a few guys got away and put a good couple of minutes into the bunch. Wonder where they slipped away?

I'm actually quite chuffed seeing the results, given the solo effort!

Wasn't too far behind except for the first two guys, who by their previous results were clearly slumming in H group. I just got blocked by three non-racers who were having a cruise up the first part of Slangkop and after getting around them I was about 50m behind the last person in the group. Just couldn't close up again. I have to learn to ride smarter and take my legendary lack of hill strength into account and get to the front of the group for the hills. I just wish I hadn't had to do the first time-trail off Boyes. That was a bit of an effort to catch up again.

I had a Great Ride. Improved on last years time by 34min. Weather was great. Vet leaders dropped us up Boyes. Secondary group worked together nicely. I did quite a few pulls on the front and I felt good that I still some left for the end. Going up Oukaap I had a nice constant pace and past quite a few people. Reaching my peak as per programme. Nice feeling. I was pleasantly surprised to see 2h29 when I stopped the watch after the line.

Yeah, those non racers getting into the bunch was quite annoying. Everytime I saw a rider without a number on in the bunch, I asked them if they were in in the race, and if not, to get out of the bunch. Had two non racers (also up Slangkop) blocking me trying to get into the bunch. I pointed them out to the Think Bike Marshall. He quickly pulled them out of the bunch.

For all your soloing efforts, you did not do bad at all.

Same, coming up boyes, (on the short) we had a train of about 10 U16's and then 15 Temps...

Our marshall had them ejected very quickly
