So it's time to replace my xt derailer's jockey wheels as they seem to be pretty worn. Would you guys recommend just the plain old nylon (or whatever plastic it's usually made from?) or maybe aluminium? Which type would last longer? These seem pretty cool and would maybe not gather as much gunk as solid ones? But at that price it might be better and cheaper just to buy a new derailer.

I run the KCNC ones and they've lasted a decent length of time.

I have the KCNC ones on a road an MTB, find them noisy and shifting not as 'crisp' (no I have no scientific evidence just my 'perception') BUT they do last long and look the business if you into the colour co-ordination thing (no patch I don't think they come in ORANGE!)

I put the BBB ones in about a year ago, they are the plasticy / nylon ones they seem to run on ok bearings, been happy with them, they were about R100 if I recall correctly, also came with loads of little washers and spacers and things to make sure fitment was perfect.

I did this recently and replaced with the XT jockey wheels. The seals on the upper wheel are useless rubber washers that let all sorts of grime in. Really not happy with them, so in the future I'll look at the BBB / TACX options.
