Less than 2 weeks to go! Who's doing Panorama this year?

Yip, I'm in. Starting to get a touch of nerves about all that climbing but should be ok - my partner and I have been putting in the miles over the last few months - hope it pays off!

You can ride it easily in a 11/21 gear ratio. :)

Great riding, awesome event and vibe.

Pity I will not be riding this for the next 3 yrs. :(

Yeah, I may have been a blasé when entering. The thought of 2000m of climbing a day is starting to sink in. Hope the scenery is good, cause there'll be plenty of time to enjoy it!

Hey? Why not?

I've done one Panorama Tour and the terrain is tough!!!

I'm in this year, but with little training and bronchitis for the last week, I don't have high expectations. So plan B is to ride as much of it as I can, appreciate the scenery and the company of my good buddy Joe Low and take some 'time out' in White River...

If nothing else, it'll be a good training weekend :))

good luck to all!

PS: As Zoo Cookie pointed out to me.... as long as the ambulance isn't riding behind you, you know you're not last! :D

Will love to do another tour. Was the best event I ever did. Maybe next year.

Now I need to get myself to survive a Kremetart first.

To all doing it this year. Enjoy it. Wish I was there. The picture in my avatar was taken on the start of day 4.

The difficulty of the Panorama Tour is directly related to how much you've trained.

and how good your partner is.

I didn't train very much for my first tour, but I had a partner who was slower than me, so I had a pretty chilled ride and it didn't feel too hard (though riding the last 90km of the first day with an under-inflated tyre was a bit draining).

I was the fittest I have ever been for my second tour, but I did it with Epoh (the hubber, in case anyone gets dodgy drug ideas) who was even faster than me. I have never hurt that much on a bike before or since.

Both times were extremely enjoyable, but were completely different.

Doing it with my wife, who is about 25 kg lighter than me, so i'm gonna get murdered on the climbs...

2200m of climbing on day 1??? That's cr@p-load on any type of bike!

Your wifes weight compared to yours means diddly squat. It's power to weight ratio.

I know a female weighing 45kgs that can't climb to save her life.

I'm jealous, my partner pulled out on me so no Panorama :(. Maybe next year again.

She's prolly stronger than me as well! Eina Eina Eina!

Hard luck about your partner dropping out - no plan B?

Bwahahaha, hope she's patient :whistling:

My fitness isn't where it should be anyway, so decided to leave it for next year rather. I'm the type who doesn't know how not to race

And BTW, you may initially battle with the accelerations of the bunches on a road bike if you're used to mtbiking. It is quite different ;)

I did Wilro last week and did notice that one actually has to be quite awake to keep in a bunch. I found myself out of the saddle a few times after not paying attention and losing a couple of bike lengths. It's a fine line between that and half-wheeling the guy in front of you. Totally different skill set, i guess?

yup, different tactics, different experience, different strength requirement.
