done it 4 times...... and my tip is that you dont get paid to do this. Make sure you are having fun, cause if you are not, you are doing something wrong! oh, and btw, the WEAKER rider on the DAY, must ride at the front, irrespective of wind direction or ego.

Done 5, aiming for 6 this year...

Clean kit every day. Look after your partner. Enjoy it. Look after your bike. Ride thicker sidewalled tyres. Take something savoury to eat. Enjoy it. Eat on the hour, every hour. Pause to soak in the scenery. Get a massage everyday. Nap. Enjoy it. Pause to soak in the atmosphere. Chat to a foreigner. Ask a pro something you've always wanted to know, however stupid it sounds. Watch the day's video highlights. Watch the flyover route description every night. Repeat x 8.

I have been training since October and do about 13hr-15hrs a week, intervals (killarney)/long LSD rides/Hills and races. I just want to finish this damn thing. I am generally close to top 100 for Sani and seeded D for PPA, top 20% Attakwas so I can ride a bit but no racing snake. I really do not know what the 'depth' of talent will be for the Epic so we are in dark as to where we want to come. Thank you for all the advise, some really good ones!

If you are around top 100 at Sani (race) and you are in shape you can probably expect something similar (or at least you will be in top 200). Nice place to be as you are not threatened by cutoffs, you start in the first 1/3 each day and you will not typically get caught up too much in slow sections. Enjoy the ride

The best piece of advise I was given was START EVERY DAY, doesn't matter how bad you feel!

Then my advice, focus on one day at a time don't worry too much about that big stage that's coming ......

Someone told me about a team that had an agreement that they would ride to the first waterpoint every day (if they were going to bail it would be there). If you just want to make it this is probably the best advice you can get. You don't start too hard and by the time you get to the first waterpoint you are into the day. If you are going to hit a low mentally it is likely to be the morning of day 4. Just work through it. From there it starts getting better.

Epic getting close now - any guesses on the weather?

Looking at photos in the Argus thread, CT looks hot and dry. I also heard about some fires in the Robertson area.

Oh boy... :(

Is there any other sources of long term weather prediction of the CE week?

Here it seems it might be a wet start, but changing rapidly every 3 hours :(
