got my bike back from the LBS and my cadence sensor no longer picks up on my edge 705.

Theres a red flash when the pedal goes past, but no green flash when the wheel magnet goes past. I've removed the wheel magnet and hold it right next to the sensor. I can hear it clicking, but still no green flash.

I've tried new batteries in the cadence sensor, but still no joy

anyone have a remedy?

I know at the bottom of the Cadence unit there is a hole that water can get into and mess up the unit (there is another thread somewhere on here about it). I find the green light is very dim so try in a very dark room. If its clicking it should be registering.. else take it into the Garmin agents...

See robinh's post. There may be water inside. Similar thing happenned to me. Take a small bit of silicone and wipe it over the hole to stop water getting in.

The newer ones have the hole pre-filled. When I had the problem, the thing went completely dead - no lights, nothing. If the cadence light is working (does it transmit cadence to the 705?), the problem might be that the wired joining the speed switch to the transmitter has broken. A couple of people have reported this problem

try a firmware update on the unit first.

Are you part of the SA Garmin forum? Because that is the old toppies standard response when the don't know what the problem might be!

;)

Try the following Fand

Under bike settings, ANT Speed/Cadence sensor, unit present > select NO

That will delete the current pairing of your speed/cadence sensor. Then do a rescan to pair them again.

As some say, it might be water damage.

Why are you worried about the speed (green light) in anyway? Take the spoke magnet off, use the gps for what it is supposed to do and save yourself a couple of grams!

Mine also stopped working on my indoor trainer few weeks back. Unit recognizes there is a cadence/speed sensor but when you pedal both the speed and cadence don't display, mine could be the battery in the cadence unit as its still the original.
