even the elites had off times compared to previous years....... around 10 min I think.

That makes me feel a bit better.

I was 8 mins slower than last year

The theme of my race was 'legspeed'.

I really wanted to spread my effort more consistently over the course.

Last year, I fizzled out like a cheap firecracker before Chapmans and pedalled to the finish in squares.

This year was a much better effort.

Still have to put much more time in interval training and speedwork as I lost pace with my bunch by Wynberg Hill.

Spent 90 % of my race time in small groups who splintered off from main bunches. This made for interesting tactical racing.

What a beautiful course!

Well done to the organisers.

Argus Newbie starting way way back with the unseeded PPA members. Was aiming for a 4h30, the traffic got heavy around Smitz, 2h09 at the half way.

My race was stuffed when I was forced to walk the last bit of Chappies due to a monster traffic jam of walkers (25min), dont blame them, the tempreture was 43 degrees! Limped in with a 5h09, pity I feel like a sub 4 will be easy to achieve next year, I MUST seed though!

Great gees along the route!

3:30 first Argus from K. Dropped my chain at UCT and from there my bike was like a stubborn horse. Great event, but I did not have a great race. Not far from goal time though (whould have helped if I could stick with the front of my group - there were a couple of really strong IM riders).
