Hi All,

I’m interested to know what sort of power the bigger guys put down in a race like the Argus. The power output in Watts needs to be much higher to finish in the same time than a lighter rider but the question is how much more …….?

So if you are >90kgs and complete the 2012 Argus in <3h05 and have the data available please post the power you put down on the climbs to stay with the bunch.

To stay with the bunch on a climb you just need to put down the same W/kg as the guy next to you. If the 65kg guys is putting down 300W, the 90kg guy needs to produce about 405W.

You will need to include the gradient into your equation as well.

Only if you're going fast enough at the front for aero drag to be a major factor.

Are you guys using power meters or is this just the Strava imputed power?

I'm using a power meter. As far as I know, if it shows a little lightning bolt next to the average power number, it means the power track was imported (probably from a PM), rather than calculated.

Would this 20min ave be balls to the wall or just riding fairly hard?

The initial 20 min test consists of going hard for 20 min but it needs to be the whole way through, not 10/15 min of full throttle and then blowing.

PS 90kg is brute heavy, I would say lighter riders are 60-70kg.

I consider myself heavy at 77kg

Well I am 85 kg but since I did 3h06min nobody is interested in my data anyway, not even me as I do not have powermeter.
