They always do.

And Campag, unless it's a Binx, in which case he must suffer with broken 105 till he can get Di2...

Campag Record 11sp with 11/25 rear set, 39/53 172.5mm front set. I am 1.82 with 84 inside leg and I am very happy with this setup. Have not given me any grief either. It is just so confidence inspiring to know you can tackle a race and not have to worry about your groupset.

Guys, and especially you, pilot, should know better.

ja - whatever lolly, technically the 2.5mm difference in length amounts to a limb segment motion travel distance change of only 15.7mm.

this oke has an inseam of 82cm... this is WELL within the 172.5 crank length segment.

He is at least 5cm to short for him to even consider using a 175mm crank..

And by the way, if you look at 99% of the pro's ride a 172.5 or a 175, if your "simple Physics" statement held any water then you would see much more varied use of custom cranks between 160 to 180mm....

Apologies for overlooking Campag gents, I am comfortable climbing and will be strengthening it this year...So you guys recon Campag is the way to go?

I currently have Felt F65 2003 model, is the campag not a bit much for this bike? The current bike with 105 cost me about R5.5k - 4 years ago.

I would of been happy to spend the money if I attained my goal of sub4 at least...even though my RD broke out of my control my goal has not been achieved...I want to spend minimum, but decent setup.

I really wanted to go Campag - that Chorus 11 speed is very sweet. The whole special tool needed for fixing the chain put me off though - I like to be able to fix my chain mid ride, either with chain breaker or quick link

Just replace your RD with a new 105 and you will be good again for years to come, that will set you back about R600-00 in total. Spending money on a new GS for your 8 year old bike I din't think it's worth it......rather put it towards your new bike in the future.

I agree with the taxi pilot.

Off chance, very off chance. My best bud's brother in law has got (or had) a Game relocating bussiness in Pietersburg. Maybe he can put you onto the right track for your Springbok ewes. Pm me, and I'll give you my buds no, then you can ask him to put you in contact with his b.i.l.

I am using a 105 Triple setup at the moment and am very happy with it, also being a big boy that needs extra cogs to go up hills. I have Campag Record triple on my other bike and the Shimano 105 shifts better, so the reason to go to Ultegra is just to know you havent bought the bottom of the range groupset, because 105 is more than adequate. Dont be lured down that road. A replacement Compact vs Triple just ensures a better chain line and less ratio overlap. Triples have lots of overlap. I reckon compact is the way to go if you want to spend the money but the price of an RD vs a Groupset is not even a discussion, unless of course you are actually looking for a reason to go and buy a new groupo. Crank lengths are such a miniscule detail that unless you are way over 6 foot and need 175mm, or way under 5foot and need 170mm, 172,5mm is what the general populace runs.
