What is your average HR during a race? In the last Babbas 70 km mine was 159. My max HR is 184 and in the race I maxed at 180.....I tired keeping my HR under 170 not to burn out. But I did not exactly place well either.

I average 170/178 for all my road races in the U16 bunch.

Big bunches are a different story, and I cant remember what the avg is...

Unless you have gone to a Medical professional the best you can do is guestimate your maximum heart rate everyone is different, On paper mine is supposed to be 186 in reality i cant push pass 173, where I have two friends of the same age riding with me, one constatly pushes his past the 200 mark and avg at 186 what his theoretical max is. And another friend that falls within the theoretical limit.

Also measuring your heart rate is for training purposes and fitness measurement and improvement analysis, dont go looking at your HRM during a race, since you wont know whats ahead and what it will do to your heart. In a race you go by how you feel not by what your computer tells you.

When i was watching the argus on TV on Sunday, my heart rate was a steady 56 beats a minute. Then it climbed up when my wife brought me another beer.

Does this answer the question?

And if she was naked while bringing said beer?

According to my age mine should be max 170. If I have to keep it below that, I might as well stop cycling. My average is 170 - 185 depending on the kind of race (flat or hilly) At R4S my max was 228!!!

Yep. My mrs is eight months pregnant. If i tried to get frisky with her now, she would probably stab me.

:whistling:

I suspect this is your first time?

According to the formula 220 - age, my HR max should be 175. Tested in the lab the other day and my HR max is 189. So now I can train in my HR zones with confidence (in the absence of a power meter).

During Argus last Sunday, I had 141 ave and 170 max. Clearly I wasn't pushing hard enough. Bloody waiting for my wife ... :cursing:

Mine around the same in all categories but it does not tell you anything where you will place.

As you train you will be able to put out more power at same heartrate and might actually be able to reach higher heartrate during races, I would however say use heartrate to train but when racing I do not have time to check heartrate , do that afterwards.
