Hi there

I have not cycled since childhood but I would like to start riding to work. I have a pretty straightforward and short trip to make - Belvedere Road > Keurboom Road> Campground Road > Claremont Main Road, most of which is on a marked bike route.

I'm sure this doesn't require a very technical bicycle, but I do want to make sure I'm getting something that will last at least 5 years and is fairly good value.

The Bicycle I have my eye on is Creme Holy Moly city bike from Chain Reaction: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=69699

Can anyone give me some technical weigh-in? I don't think I need more than a 3 speed for this route?

Secondly, I believe Chain Reaction is a very favoured online retailer. Can someone please give me an idea of the delivery times to SA and what sort of duties/taxes I can expect to pay?

Thanks!

Courtney

Why not buy a cheap mountain bike for R3 000 or so. I use mine to commute. The nice thing is that you can hop on and off pavements, ride on the gravel next to the road etc.

Hi Courtney

If you are looking for a practical commuter then Eugene's comment above is, well, practical.

However. Should you be looking for a commuter with a bit of city slicking style then pay Woodstock Cycle Works in Cape Town a visit as they would fit well with in the genre of bike you are then looking for.

I saw the 'fancy' model even comes with usb ports so you can charge/power stuff while you ride. Pretty rad!
