Hmm, Also getting into his twilight years now I think, Liquigas has a reputation for finding good young riders and moving them up through the ranks, I think it would be a mistake to take Pellizotti on, unless they think he could be a good mentor. That said I always liked him, so yeah.........not sure!

Albasini defended well though, I think it may have been different if the Queen stage was completed as then guys like Wiggins would have taken time, but otherwise it was a fair reflection on the race I think.

Albasini is a quality all-rounder. He's won mountain stages in Tour de Suisse and the like before.

Yeah, true, but those were some serious climbs, but yeah, maybe he could still have defended his lead, was around 90sec I think.

We can look forward to some good racing ahead I am hoping Sammy can podium at the tour this year, a real quality athlete. .......or even better, I hope he rides the Giro, perfect territory for him.
andydude Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 A good all-rounder but certainly excels at climbing, love his attacking style on the climbs just a pleasure to watch. It seems he does better if he attacks on the climbs and goes on his own or in little group than where if he sits in the group he sometimes gets dropped. That's what I've seen of him. But I like him - great and entertaining cyclist!
