i have been wondering how most of the other teams do this. I have a female friend that i would like to ride a stage race with and i know for sure my wife wold not enjoy the thought of me sharing a tent with another woman. (PS note that wife does not ride)

If your wife doesn't "ride", then she has no say in matters of "the tent"

Depends on what your cycling partner looks like - Penelope Cruz or Natalie Portman and the missus will not be too happy. Different story if she looks like Susan Boyle!

If she looks like Susan Boyle you could experience any of the following issues:

  • a two man tent will not be big enough
  • you might well not finish any of the stage or reach the tent village
  • kiss your trail snacks good bye

mates did it last year - no real issues - they just piled the containers in the middle of them for a semblance of privacy

+1

and I am sure you could take it in turns to get changed in the tent...
