dalem44 Posted April 17, 2012 Share I was going through my Sani2c checklist and noticed that I hadn't got a spare derailleur hanger for my new frame. So off I went to the shops and had a look around, I couldn't get the hanger from my LBS since it was not a bike that they kept so I had to go elsewhere. I went to a chain that I am not too fond of since their prices are not the best unless you haggle your way through to what you want to pay. The only problem is, that I don't know what a derailleur hanger costs! I ended up buying the hanger and walked out the shop feeling as though I had dropped the soap in a prison shower! Can anyone enlighten me as to what a hanger should costs?

Robrider Posted April 17, 2012 Share R130-R150 odd. I suppose it could be as much as R200. but more than that and I would be unhappy

RedRover Posted April 17, 2012 Share Paid about R125 for a Scott hanger and R82 for a Giant hanger at the LBS last week. Don't know whether that's good or bad though

TNT1 Posted April 17, 2012 Share The said derailleur is for a Raleigh My last Raleigh mtb one cost me R250 They didn't have a clue what they were looking for, so they took out a box with assorted hangers in it, I dug around till I found a matching one. No price for it on their system, so I made em an offer. My lucky day, I guess...
Bike Mob Posted April 17, 2012 Share sounds much cheaper than a derailer in the spokes and a wrecked frame... you should be thanking your lucky stars they had one. rememebr to carry it with you every day... much easier than converting to a singlespeed mid race. I went the singlespeed route once out on the trail but it kept slipping gears so I ended up running the bike home!

dalem44 Posted April 17, 2012 Share I have been riding for 6 years and only ever need one once! I have already added it to my ride pack that I take with on all rides!
