So how heavy is your Shova?

Mine is 13.6kg's with a no frills build and lots of room to lighten up.

Now I am not looking for silly builds, but trail bikes that come in at a nice weight ..... what have you got and how does your build look?

Regards

H

13.6... man tht's impressive!

My AM bike is supposed to be 13.5kg stock standard build. But mine being a large, the addition of a chainguide, heavier chainrings (stock is XTR), a dropper post, wider bars, and chunky stem... it's sitting at 15kg now

Funny that I was thinking my Shova is a heavy pig of a build ....

There was a guy I met the other day who said his came in at 11.something ... but his was a very very very XC build.

My medium's about 14 (2007 frame). Pedals, seat and wheels (and maybe brakes) could lose a bit, but the rest's about as light as I want it. IMO you'd need to keep it somewhere around the 13kg mark if you want it to be a decent trail bike, otherwise you'd just end up breaking stuff (if not components or teeth, then the bank...)

Seem to recall he's got a DHX 4.0 and a 160mm 36 fork on it. That should bump it up a bit.

Light sabres actually weigh less than air, so to keep it on during the weigh would be cheating.

Edit: By Shova I'm assuming you mean the ST. LT at 18kg would be pretty standard issue.

Yes I now got 2.6 tyres and a DHX5 . Must be 19 now .

I've got 2 brand new double ply 2.7s that you can buy if you're aiming to break 20kg

Cheaper just to put a brick in the bottle cage...

Mine must have also picked up a little "winter warmth" with a set of Nevegal 2.35" UST tyres front and back.
