I have a Titus Racer X

If money is not the issue, can i fit either of the 2 mentioned BB's on my bike, and if yes, which would give me the best value for money in the long term. I currently have a CK headset with zero problems.

And which model of the 2 should i look at.

Cheers

I can't comment on the Hope BB as I have never owned or ridden with one, I do however have a Chris King BB on my road aswell as MTB and have not had a single days problems with it.

The dudes at International Trade tell me that ceramic Hope BBs don't seem to last. The normal ally one is bulletproof just like the CKing.

I have run the Hopes for more than 2 years and don't expect to have to change anytime soon.

Hi there slick

They shouldn't have sold you any ceramics for MTB anyway.

Great for road use, just to much dirt and grime for MTB use. You will not get the miles out of it.

The Chris King will last you a lifetime!!!

Yeah I know. Didn't go anywhere near the ceramics. ;)

Chris King seems to get the regular thumbs-up here but what most people don't know is that up to very recently Chris Kind didn't pay the Aheadset royalty and thus couldn't use the constricting conical ring system. They concocted their own standard and it was an inferiour one that often ate away at steerer tubes, leaving you with play in the system. Now that the patent has gone public domain, they may have changed their tune, but I'll make sure before buying a CK headset.

Ceramic cartridge bearings (as used in this industry) are rubbish. They are expensive and don't last. I cannot think of a single benefit.
