A mate of mine has MTB shoes and pedals on both his MTB and road bike. He is considering changing to road pedals and shoes -  is it worth it if you are a funrider?

so' date=' he's got MTB shoes riding his Road and MTB ?

And he is a funrider?... wanted to change to road shoes riding on his MTB?

He must be dumber than the cellphone guy of this morning.[/quote']

Nothing wrong with changing to road pedals if you have a road bike. But DON'T change to road pedals on a MTB! Why on earth would he want to? They're equally easy to clip in and out of. Doesn't make sense to me...

pops c'mon man....he is thinking of putting road pedals on his road bike..... in the beginning he had the MTB then when he bought the road bike he put MTB pedals on so that he could use his MTB shoes...

Have I got it clear this time???

My feeling is that it depends on what mtb shoes he has, if he has a very soft soled mtb shoe, it may be worth it.

If he has a ridgid soled mtb shoe, no point at all.

Ya - pops has pms this morning quite clearly. But I still luv him cos he helped me choose my Anthem smiley9.gif

If he's riding for fun, why would he want to change to road shoes - it's more expense and different cleats and pedals. I say if the MTB shows work fine, stick with them if they're comfy and he's used to them. Plenty people on road bikes have MTB pedals and cleats, but not the other way round.

haha, Pops, you need a holiday ? Wink

Oiltrash, I'm still riding with MTB shoes and pedals on my road bike (and have been for 4 months) but will be changing in the near future.

Kinda looks weird, clean road bike with muddy mtb shoes. Pantani wouldn't be seen dead riding next to me. LOL

Agreed completely!

You need a more rigid show on a road bike, so let that also dictate the decision he takes. They are reasonably priced too. Cheaper than MTB overall, especially in the entry level shows, which are perfect. I've had my R700 Diadoras for 6 years and they perfect.

How much walking does he do when he is riding his road bike? Does he walk all the hills? If not the he should get road shoes and pedals.

He does not walk at all.. reasonably fit..

guys, no matter how good you are, no matter how strong you are, if you ride a MTB on a gravel road.

one day you will have to "klap a toon".

And toonklap in a road shoe on gravel will not be fun. It will be slippery , even in the dry.

Ok, I need a holliday as well, but I booked my 9day MTB holliday last week in March and I'm going to Knysna, smiley2.gif
