Just started a store

Good luck for your venture. Never mind the non-constructive comments and nay-sayers. You got everyone talking, you are making an effort, and if the format is not right, so what. Am sure most successful people didn't stick to the correct etiquette to get people talking.

Howdy all,

1.I know that it's not good etiquette to punt products on my first post, but here goes -

We've just started importing Basil bicycle bags and baskets. Anyone interested in their site go to http://www. basil. nl (obviously without the spaces)

2.We're not big sports and fitness cyclists, but cycle to work every day. The stuff we import is supposed to look stylish, be functional and, most of all, be affordable! If you compare our prices with international stores you'll find us competitive.

So check out the store at http://www. urbancyclist. co. za !!

Admins, hope I posted in the right place! Retailers, we're keen to distribute to store wholesale as well.

Cheers and happy riding. Looking forward to becoming part of the community

1.Not really , it's only perceived as poor etiquette on this forum, you will find out in time that some here reek of arrogance and opinions.

2.That applies to most people on here.

Welcome to The Hub and all the best with your venture.

I really enjoy a good Friday flame - and I see others have already lit one.

So I'll just say good luck instead ;)

BTW - I wanted a commonly used bag for Audaxing, but doesn't look like anyone in SA imports them so had to order from UK:

Food for thought, might be worth you seeing if they want a local agent

Maybe a bit harsh, but i actually agree in principle with THEV.

Admin maintains this site for a living.

He makes a salary off of advertising revenue.

Companies that pay for banners etc are allowed to ply their wares in the forums and the classifieds are reserved for private sellers.

I like that, its not your typical spam ridden site.

Why does the OP bypass the system that has been put in place for others.

Just because it is cycling related and not viagra or mobile phones?

I agree with you to a degree but let the guy get his business of the ground, once he's generating revenue I'm sure he'll buy some ad space on thehub and follow the correct channels, if not then sure, he's taking a bit of a gap.

There are tons of bike stores advertising through forum posts on thehub and have done so for a long time, its not always practical to have an animated advertisment on a site, sometimes you need to advertise through posts because it just wouldnt make sense otherwise.

Lots of Magicshine lights, end of life products, great bicycle deals etc... are being advertised through posts and I'm pretty sure a lot of them would go unoticed if they were only advertised through banners and not posts? in which case both the seller and potential buyer loses out.

Thehub is great with tons of good advise and some good deals, I believe there's a good balance on the site at the moment, let the bigger distributors buy the banners and give the smaller guys the platform to become big and then buy the banners.

That would require being 'civil' and that is not a natural trait for everyone :whistling: ;)

Wow, my poor li'l post gets no replies for ages and then BOOM it all goes crazy! Many thanks to all the guys who've wished us luck. Looks like I've stirred some poo by starting this thread - Mr Admin, if you want to delete it I understand. Please add me to your Online Store directory thread though.

TheV seems to be the reason for the interest so I would like to say-

"Dear Mr V,

Thanks for the flames, they've done wonders for the views count.

I had no idea that putting spaces in my links was supposed to bypass anything, it's just the way I've seen it done and I always assumed it was to stop internet robots from picking up my website and spamming it. So thanks for educating me on that.

And, crazy but true, the rookie who bumped me is no affiliation.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the week.

Sincerely,

Me."

Pleasure - Like I said, your website looks good, your products look even better, hope you make some mooollaaa!!

Glad my flames got you some attention, because when I stumbled across your post it was just about stale...
