From the google map Ben posted, none of the races, 20km fun ride or Toughee, will be going up to the top. Not even down to the fire station or anywhere near Wendell's Way or The Gulley or Twin Towers. On the map, the little white 'blocks' in the top left corner are the Thaba Yabatswana buildings, that you ride past going up the steep climb next to the electric fence. That part of the trail is only completely rideable by a select few ppl, so pointless having it in a race.

I picked the tough one just hope it's the right one .... the one that cost 150 za ronds :(

WOW WOW WOW what a morning out! I take back any comments about the cost of entry!

I would gladly have paid double that :) - top notch organisation, trails, marking, marshalling, facilities and will be having a belt made with that buckle post haste

Thanks to MTBaaisiklist for the 'lines' and easy gear warnings, you are a scholar and a gentleman  - easily my best day out 'technically' ever!

Wendel, Dave, Sheldon and all those involved I don't know or missed you can give yourselves a pat on the back!

Now can we do it again SOON

Agreed, what a lekker morning of riding! A lot of work went into the event, and many new pieces of trail...

Had to laugh at some oke stopping to take pictures of the wildlife...... Someone passing, "hey, so what now, you been knocked over by a zebra? did anyone get it on a gopro?"

Thanks to the organizers for a great race - didn't stay for prize giving, wanted to get back to family. Trail was fantastic though - great downhills. Climbs were tough hey. First half of figure eight rode up most, second half walked up most! Tech sections kept me on my toes. A guy just in front of me joined the Stalone club (went over the top), though luckily fell on the only cactus on the entire trail. He was ok though, and we soldiered on to finish together, well sort of, he did the sprint finish thing at the end

I also did indeed see that Pyga.

One day when I have the legs to match (and wallet) - will get one, it just looks stupid when you push a bike like that uphills

Yeah that Pyga was the race winner.

Race was flipping awesome. I love my home trail, when I die u can sprinkle my ashes up at Barry's point.

The route was perfect, just enough flat stuff to sort out the fast from the not as fast so that there wasn't a single bottle neck or place to get stuck behind somebody by the time we got to any climbing or technical sections.

I'm really happy so many people have good things to say, must mean more people are starting to up their skill level and appreciate good, technical XC riding. Every1 owes it to themselves to keep visiting Thaba and Rietvlei to practice the fun stuff.

The artist formerly known as BigBen, you rode like a madman, can't believe how your technical game has come along, at your tender age it proves nobody's too old to keep developing technical ability. ????

Thanks for an AWESOME morning's racing Wendell and co.
