No.

Raleigh SA was locally designed, specced and branded by Probike, it went through a change as 'Nomad' on the MTB range with the Raleigh logo being less prominent.

Probike now no longer have the Raleigh brand as Raleigh themselves have now appointed an agency/distributor to import the overseas specced range.

Probike have brought out their own brand of value for money and entry level bikes, Axis. Design, spec and build are still done locally by Probike themselves. It could be viewed that these are done as a supplementary range to the Scott bikes for whom Probike are the local agents.

With Scott themselves buying into Probike, it's possible that Raleigh saw this as a conflict to building their brand and presence on the growing local market with the full range, including the upper end of models.

I am a mtb'er, and want to buy a road bike as well. I am looking for a descent 2nd hand bike and was offered a Raleigh RC600 full 105 bike. I thought that i would be able to get a good deal on 2nd hand bikes, but it seems there are a lot of potential pitfalls.

Would you thik its better to buy a lower end new bike, or keep looking for a descent 2nd hand bike?

As long as the frame has no cracks and the components aren't too worn you can get some good deals.

But there are some good options for new bikes too, the Axis site has some really well priced and specced road bike, or you could check Sports Basement for clearance stock of a couple of brands at reduced prices.
