Surely you only have to pay for delivery costs to South Africa? I mean if it's an extra R100 on the price I can handle that

The problem is your postage package comes through the customs system and you then get charged customs duties around 30-40% + 14% VAT (not sure exact value but high) You will then be required to pay these charges at the post office before receiving your goods so not a good idea. Bike spares is another story as there is no duties only the 14% VAT

Nope clothing itmes have an import duty from 40-60% and then you will get charged another 14% VAT ontop of that and delivery fee's.

R499 gets you a decent pair of shorts. I use these and like 'em.

If you know anyone in the UK have them order it, slap it in a box, and paste sticker on it saying "samples" or "gift" that way no duties :)

firstly welcome to the great world of cycling !

u might opt for bib shorts after a while as cycling shorts tend to slid down after a while and it becomes an eyesore for those riding behind u and your cheeks will be lekker *** sore after your ride if the chamois moves out of position

Haha thanks for the tip - I'll have a look at the prices. Been there, done that - the other day I did an adventure run. I was wondering why the girls were sprinting past me so fast with a horrified expression on their faces. When I got home, I realised that my pants were ripped at the back and my bloody boxers as well  Had a good laugh though... hopefully I'll never see any of those people again

yah, for clothes and shoes, keep it local. the ubsurd import duties just dont make it worth the wait for our 1st class postal system to sort, process, loose, and delay the shipment.

Solomons have Serfas Saddleback MTB shoes for R399, otherwise Olympic are also quite cheap, some guys have mentioned poor quality but mine i've had for 2 years and they are still in good nick.

Cycle shorts or bibs try Anatomic shop in Nortcliff, they have good variety and very reasonable priced

Sportmans Warehouse in Fourways have opened a large cycle section, have not been there yet so cant comment on range or prices.
