Everyone who qualified for the UCI World Cycling Tour Final - World championships for masters and amateurs in August would have received an email today about the kit, if you want the kit you have to fork out R950.

Two questions

1. Surely CSA should cover or at the very least contribute towards the cost of these kits considering these athletes are representing their country at an international level?

2. Who's going to buy the kit and who's going to ride in their team kit? surely all the international participants will be in National colours and not individual sponsored kit? Would make for interesting racing from a tactical point of view if this was the case

Here's what the kit looks like, cant say it blows my hair back.

Sure I get that but it would make for difficult racing from a tactical point of view if everyone was racing in sponsor kit and not national kit, for example, if a break goes up the road, how do you know which countries are represented or if two riders are going to be working against you because they're from the same country. That's really my point.

Designers Go wild... you could post your own design for CSA to approve but time is running out.

I have team kit to wear but I would possibly but a kit as a momento.

Is that the national colours kit, our riders will wear at The Olympics? If so then i am sure Cherise Stander will now withdraw any appeal.

Seriously though its a great idea and it would be better for all to represent their country.

I don't like the flag motif but something subtle like this should be cool

1. R950 is not going to stop you from going. as masters/amateurs surely this is your hobby or is it a principle you're banging on.

2. i won't be wearing the kit (partly because it looks crap but mainly becuase i'm not going)

training kit, not for matches. although they might have gone through a lot of sets of kit with the merry go round that was the team this year.

No its the principal, we all pay our CSA license fees, they get a cut of our race winnings, they a cut from race organisers so cant they give a little back?

ARM CHAIR CRITICS....

-> why didn't you make suggestions on the facebook site? http://www.facebook.com/SouthAfricanUWCT2012 This design was driven by the riders not the CSA. It's the riders that approached CSA asking if we could have a national kit for the UWCT final.

-> how much can you actually change national kit? and will anyone ever design something that isn't bashed by the next person?

-> Amateur National kit needs to be different from the Elite National kit.

-> who would you spend money on?...someone who is/might ride in a pro-tour team or someone who came 7th in their UWCT qualifier?

-> you can see there is open sponsor space why not try get a company to sponsor the kit? There's 2 weeks left.

-> yes, all the russians, italians, dutch, germans, australians, french, etc will be wearing their national kit. We are hosting the UWCT final; how odd would it be if none of us wore RSA national kit?

You raise valid points many of which I'm not disputing, My point is that CSA should ensure when there is an international event with South African athletes representing their nation (regardless of whether or not its at an elite level) that the athletes have a national kit much like governing bodies in other sporting disciplines do in SA, all selected athletes have paid license fees over the years and are participating based on merit so why cant CSA contribute a little?

This of course is merely my opinion, we all have these and wont all agree
