Can u distinguish between an eft or cheque when drawing a statement? I don't think you can & that's the problem here hence the op & so many others got scammed, they think eft is cash, withdraw the funds & 2 days later bank retract funds due to bounced cheque & you sit with the debt.

Don't know about all banks but mine does, i get shown 2 amounts, Balance which includes funds not cleared and Available Balance which is total of cleared money and available for me to use

 

If someone paid in a cheque and claimed it was a cash deposit, the Available Balance will not reflect the amount and i know the person is talking BS.
