So I thought I do the manly thing this weekend, hire a trailer to put behind the car, drive to the suburbs and buy load of fire wood for me, the in-laws and a mate before cleaning out the garden refuse and taking that to the dump. you know, the hairy-chest-manly-Saturday-stuff.

Except that the fire wood (30 km drive) was all wet as they hadn't bothered covering it during the week of rain. So I didn't get any, but called some contact - who said he'd deliver the wood the same day, at a cheaper rate. Awesome, except I had a trailer - so I made them pack half of it into my garage, the other half onto the trailer and took it to the in laws, the friend and then back home. Coffee with the wife and kid, while car parked outside. You know where this goes. I feel like a chop. It's not covered against theft, and probably repainted by now.

Anyone know a good place to purchase trailers in Cape Town?

Sorry for your loss what a pain in the bottom bracket, try gumtree for 2nd hand trailers.

Hijack, who did you get the wood from, I am looking for a supplier, Southern Suburbs.

Sorry about your loss.

I got my Jurgens Trailer at Leisureland in Bellville. They are slightly more expensive than the Game specials but have better suspension (you can see I'm a mountainbiker) and better rust warrantees.

Just as a matter of interest: Rain water dries off in less than a day on firewood. Some woodcutters soak the wood to wash out the sap and that ensures that wood dries quicker. I'm not worried if the wood is left uncovered. At least it hasnt been sweating under a sheet of plastic for weeks.

Check the fine print. Offer to pay the excess. Say sorry.

It's commercial, they have to have insurance by law. Swines will take a new one from you and probably still claim on their insurance for a new one.

Walk away

Have another coffee. Sleep well

I'm also inthe market for a trailer....I have a6ft Venter but it is getting just a tad too small for all my camping requirements.

So looking for something a bit larger (but not really those off road jobbies!) ~R70k is just too much for standing arounf to be used once a year!!

any ideas of where to look? I'll try Gumtree, but they are so full of crooks I'd rather look elsewhere...
