Tall (dark & handsome) Boy

Guess one should be anal and torque all the bolts to their specified setting (especially on Carbon frames / bars / seat posts) however not always possible on the trail and on the go. That bolt on teh Hope clamp is specially turned / unique Aluminium one, it doesn't strip, the head breaks off.

I replaced it with a Nukeproof that uses a standard Allen bolt (and looks just as kewl)

That is a good-looking seatclamp! I'll keep it in mind if/when the Hope fails.

Right now I'm contemplating the purchase of three additional items:

1. KMC X10SL DLC Red

Too much?

2. Jagwire Hyflow hydraulic brake hose in Black Carbon

3. Jagwire Ripcord derailleur cables in Black Carbon

Yay or nay?

Ooooohhhhh, I love Jagwire!!!

Black Carbon is one of the more conservative, but very classy options... subtle...

I would start with derailleur cables first, if you like it, then add the hoses... hoses are ALOT more work as it requires full bleed of the system and you need the connector kits, etc etc... and it's just as easy to do "later" as it is to do at the "build"

PS > if you go for the Jagwire derailleur hoses, get the "Ripcord" kit.

And you might as well order 2x, because with most frames running complete housing all the way through it might be tight.

It's not a waste though because you will have a spare set of inner cables to change with your first major service...

They are about R270 for a kit.

Chain... not too sure... coloured chains are for SS's...

There is also a plain black one

Chains are consumables - what's the point of a fancy colour co-ordinated job may I ask? Cables hmm personal choice I guess, but I dont get the 'carbon' outers option, but reinforced brake lines are good if only for peace-of-mind factor.

Standard SRAM chains are good, buy in packs of 3+, big savings on CRC and elsewhere. And measure the wear frequently, and replace when over limits.

Ok I have read through this here thread and have decided that I am going to build myself a SS just deciding on a frame but have been given a very nice option by TheV. =)

Aaaah, you see these things happen when you have to wait 3-4 weeks for a frame. You get bored and start overthinking every option. That is my defence and I stand by it! :w00t:
