Hi,

I am looking to buy a 2nd hand bike and i have 4 options.

1. 2003 Giant Iguana disc- well looked after, owned by a family friend. about R3000.

2. 2010 Mongoose Tyax Comp- R2500

24-spd

3. 2010 Sott Yecora- R2900

Shimano Deore derailer

Shimano Crankset

Manitou Axel Front Shock (Air/Oil combo)

4.Mongoose Tyax Elite.

24-spd

6061 T6 Aluminium Frame,

Ritchey headset,

Grind OS shocks,

Shimano 8 spd cassette (recently changed),

Shimano chain (recently changed),

Shimano bottom bracket (recently changed),

SR Suntour cranks 175mm,

Shimano front and rear derailleurs,

Shimano integrated shifters,

Alex rims,

Quando hubs,

Tektro Disc brakes,

Kenda tyres.

I havent seen any of the other bikes as yet, but dont want to waste my time if they are not worth it. i am completely clueless on bikes these days and dont knwo whehter to go for a newer bike if it is too heavy, or has poor components.

thanks in advance

Manitou Axel Front Shock (Air/Oil combo) is incorrect. The Axel was Coil & Oil.

All of those are pretty ok but the prices seem a bit high. Especially on that 2003 Iguana. R3000 is crazy. R1000 is closer.

Sorry, the Iguana is a 2006 model.

that is the only bike i am sure of, the others are all jsut based on what people have said over the phone and whats on their adverts.

I had a feeling the scott was not 2010, based on what i saw on the internet. thanks for the confirm. the guy selling was a bit unsure of details, and the add never even stated the model name.

Ill be doing a combination of road and trail riding. used to do a lot of road cycling, but never done any proper mountain biking.

thanks so much for all the help everyone
