I think in terms of application the scott is a trail bike out and out not for racing as such . If you looking for something to race with liek for stage races and long marathon rides this bike will not be suitable.

I know the launch of the silverback bikes are this weekend so pricing and details should be out soon.

This is a awsome looking bike though live it

Travel a bike not maketh.

Really nice!! Can I ask what it will retail for as it stands there?

Will have to do the math, but with the great weather we're having gotta go ride first!

sub 10k you mean less then R10 000 ?

Sub 10kg

I assumed he meant sub 10kg

Yip

Did you consider going 3x10 on the groupset?

Nope. I'm done with 3x10. Was done with 3x9 before the whole 10spd thing as well. I do miss top end from time to time, especially on fast, flat terrain, but I don't ride those often. Have 1 x 10 on my Ibis...

has it been ridden yet?....its got those fresh out the box pedals still on..

Pic was taken after I took delivery. Have since fitted Look Quartz pedals, Grip Shifters and a saddle bag! Will take some new pics and post them later. Maybe stop along the route today for some fun in the sun pics.

I'm building 650b wheels on a 2012 Scalpel 26" frame - the word from MTB Forum is that they will fit.

But BB height is the only issue, anyone find that an issue?

Here's a 26" / 650 Convertible Sewanee MWC with an adjustable BB

The concentric bottom bracket is at the heart of the MWC system. Here, with 650b wheels, the spindle is set in a relatively low position within the bottom bracket. For 26in wheels, it sits higher

i was expecting it to be cheap because its a South African brand.

Just because the decals/stickers are designed in South Africa does not make it a South African brand. The frame comes straight from China, as does 95% of the other carbon frames in the world.

As far as I know, Produx is/was the only "real" South African frame.

Such a nice set of lines, very similar to the Momsen.

As far as I know they'll only be available early next year. Drop Charne at Silberack SA a mail.

Any idea what the retail of this bike will be?

Nope, someone posted a reply above and said he expected it to be in the same price range as the Silverback 29ers with the same spec, and it makes sense.

But apparently the launch is this weekend, so lets wait and see!

Launch is this weekend, it's happening Saturday afternoon/evening at Kyalami. got an invite, but sadly can't use it.
