My ex broke her Catlike in a bad fall at the Attakwas on Sat.

Does anyone know who the distributor is or who sells them in the Cape

W.E used to but dont anymore.

Do Catlike offer the same replacement policy as Bell or Giro?

I do believe I heard somewhere, its the same as the Cannondale distributors, Cape Cycle Systems?

But I may be wrong, give them a call first.

Dont know about the crash warranty.

Spoke to Cape Cycle Systems.

They used to do Catlike but gave it up.

Interestingly they used to heavily discount a new one to replace a damaged one to provide a form of replacement policy.

Seems like there is no option but to look at a Bell or a Giro.

Did you ask when they gave it up Kranswurm?

If they were the official distributor when you bought yours surely they could do something for you.

I mean its not your fault they gave it up, you bought in good faith that they would still be around in the future,so why should you be  left out of pocket and compromised?

??

Once they have sold out of current stock and no longer have helmets in their portfolio why is it their responsibility to find another helmet??! LOL

Crash replacement is usually only offered while there is stock. If the model being replaced is obsolete a distributor or manufacturer only offer a simlarly priced item.Since CCS no longer import Catlike they are under no obligation to find catlike for anyone!

SOmetimes expectations and reality don't walk hand in hand.

I agree with you GL.If they are not the distributors anymore there is no obligation.Anyway Catlike do not have a policy in place.Cycle Systems initiated their own.

I tell you they are top class helmets and the fit is superb.

Tess is pissed off that she will have to change.

I believe the helmet saved her life.Cracked in 6 places from the impact so it did its jobClap

Yeah it's a real pity cos I went looking for one recently and called them to enquire about their dealers. They said they've not imported for some time and will re-evaluate this year whether they want to import them again.

I really liked the fit and feel.

I know William Keith's shop in Somerset had a couple in stock recently incl a Phonak replica....

I dont necessarily agree GL, when someone imports an item and puts it into the retail arena, they assume responsibility for that item.

In other words they are making a statement "I think this is a good product and I am selling it with all warranty and service back up" a customer who buys it, dos so in good faith, and in the knowledge that should there be any issues later, they will have a service back up.

Is that not what everyone here (or a lot anyway) use as an argument to buy local "BECAUSE OF THE BACK UP"????????

Otherwise why bother,............... Import the flippin thing pay half price and if you dont get service later, so what you saved big on the cost.

You aint getting the service or back up here ANYWAY.!

............But the differance is "I can almost guarantee you, the international shop / distributor WOULD have suported your issue"

CCS is a reputable importer, if the product was purchased with the knowledge of a discount or a crash warranty from the distributor, I feel they should honour that - or there is ABSOLUTELY NO INCENTIVE TO BUY AND SUPPORT LOCAL.
