VINTAGE CENELLI SINGLE SPEED - TREASURE OR TRASH?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Have I bought a treasure or a lemon?

OVERVIEW

The frame is badly painted and some of the detail is clearly painted by hand. The frame seems to be steel and regrettably not a Titanium frame. The size of the bike is a 57-58. I have weighed the bike in an ‘as is’ condition and it weighs a round 8kg.

THE BARS are inscribed with the Olympic rings and the word “COMPITIZIONE”. On the one side there is a logo showing the ‘3 ttt’ logo encircled by a wreath.

FRONT FORK. From images on the net I could see it is a Cenelli fork.

WHEELS AND TYRES. The rims are Mavic GEL 280 tubbys and the words ‘Campagnolo Record’ appear on the hubs.

SADDLE is a ‘San Marco Rolls’.

CRANK SET is Sugino

I bought the bike from Cash Converters. I’ll reveal the price I paid in the near future. Of course, my biggest concern is what the value of the bike is. If it is not an absolute treasure I will restore the bike to pristine condition and use it as a single speed commuter.

The value lies in the: (1) the stem (cinelli grammo titanium) Beautiful!!!

(2) the 3ttt bars (3) the wheelset with lovely record large flange hubs.

(4) can't really identify the pin and waver a guess at GS

but, sorry the frame isn't a cinelli pista at first glance.

sorry if i missed something, but we'd need a look at the bb shell as well.

Not that I'm any specialist in identifying bikes, but I really don't think it looks like a Cinelli frame.

Still think it was a great bargain though, lucky find.

I've built 2 bikes up recently, loads of fun, enjoy!

Sorry to hijack but I saw an old Raleigh Flyer MKIII at a pawn shop today. It has the old "Raleigh Springs South Africa" badge on the front, a brooks saddle and ?Weideman brakes?

It was a road bike and not a chopper and I cannot seem to find a pic online.

Is this worth anything?

Ya, I'm pretty certain it's not a Cinelli, but for the bits on it, that price is awesome.

Heartcoppi's the man who knows about these things. Even if it's not a Cinelli, it looks rather nice. How does she ride?

Dalem, I can't say I rate Raleighs highly, perhaps 'cos my boet had one in the 70s and it was a tank of note. That said, to me, all old bikes are worth something.
