nice definition form Appleman bicycles

Gravel Road/Do-all: It's the bike that blurs riding styles and has one hundred names: gravel road racer, adventure bike, a do-all bike, a big tire road bike, a country bike. Call it what you'd like, we build bikes that smooth out gravel roads. Fit up to 42mm tires to float over gravel and absorb the washboard sections. Brake options are cantilever or disc. Disc setups are available in cable and hydraulic configurations.

lot of buzz these days in the States about gravel bikes, seems as though Giant is testing the waters a bit in Asia

This is a really cool bike and would probably suite most people out there you ride bikes

well......um.........ahh........not........really........ok, pretty much................

Regardless, it looks pretty good and I like the disc brakes for CX

Would have been the perfect weapon for that silly mtb race in Parys this morning.

Unfortunately, that is the state of a lot of "MTB" races in South Africa.

Nice idea

It is similar to cycloX but has a longer head tube and much lower top tube.these will sell pretty well as winter bikes in Europe and the States.

Yeah, if your average south african hubber would take his head out his arse, they'd see this'd be a perfect everyday bike here as well.

Of course that's not gonna happen, cause it's a well thought out machine, not a pile of baseless marketing hype. Hubbers, stick your heads back, nothing to see here.

It'll make a great commuter. And I'm sure a few tough dudes will use it for the Mast Challenge (in Tokai).

Commuter? The Mast?

I'd sell my road bike and my mtb, and just use that for both.

The record time up to The Mast currently belongs to (I think) Darren Lill on a road bike.

TNT1 hit the nail there, with poor road surfaces, bad drivers, jogging path short cuts etc, most guys should apreciate the bigger tyres, sharper brakes and more relaxed geometry, but average joe seems to be nore keen on pro tour-esque bikes, the latest carbon fibre gizmo and how many watts he pulled on his coffee ride.....
